The New Testament Baptist Site is dedicated to the Truth of God's Word. The Lord Jesus Christ originally gave the responsibility of caring for the Word of God to the Jews, "... unto them were committed the oracles of God" (Rom 3:2). Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, they faithfully insured it's transmission and preservation for thousands of years ( 2 Pet 1:20; Acts 7:38 ). However, when the Jews rejected the Lord Jesus 2000 years ago He transferred this responsibility to the New Testament church.
"... the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth." (1 Tim 3:15)
The Lord Jesus Christ said to His New Testament Church, "... All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you : and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matt 28:18-20)
Christ's New Testament church is the pillar and ground of the Truth. The Bible calls it's self the Word of Truth:
THE WORD OF TRUTH IS THE GOSPEL OF ETERNAL SALVATION IN HEAVEN:
"... ye also trusted [Christ], after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise." (Eph 1:13)
"For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the Word of the Truth of the gospel." (Col 1:5)
THE WORD OF TRUTH IS THE INSTRUMENT USED BY GOD TO PRODUCE THE NEW BIRTH:
"Of His own will begat He us with the Word of Truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." (James 1:18)
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Pet 1:23)
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:5-8; Note: "water" is symbolic for the Word of God. See Eph 5:26; Isaiah 55:10-11; Titus 3:5; Ezek 36:25-27; Heb 10:22; 1 Cor 6:11)
IT IS THE WORD OF TRUTH THAT PRODUCES SAVING FAITH:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph 2:8-9)
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." (Rom 10:17)
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour." (Titus 3:5-6)
THE WORD OF TRUTH SANCTIFIES BELIEVERS WHEN WE READ & STUDY IT:
"Sanctify them through Thy Truth: Thy Word is Truth." (John 17:17)
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth." (2 Tim 2:15)
THIS WORD OF TRUTH HAS BEEN ENTRUSTED TO THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH, GOD'S EMBASSIES ON EARTH:
"... the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth." (1 Tim 3:15)
"And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Cor 5:18-21)
