+8. Thomas B. Theus was born 7-Aug-1841, died 3-May-1918 in Taylor Co., GA. He married Susan Emma Gresham b. 22-Dec-1855 in Meriwether Co., GA, d. 20-Mar-1937 in Taylor Co., GA, buried in Ideal. They had nine children. Susan Emma Gresham was the daughter of George W. Gresham and Sarah Jane McKenney. Enlisted Company C, Ga 59th Infantry 8-May-1862, Captured near Appomattox, VA 6-Apr-1865. Paroled at Burkeville, VA 14-17-Apr-1865. (source: National Archives Microfilm Box, Roll, and Record: 000226, 0060, 00000591 - John Griffin). Per family legend, Grandpa Theus walked from Burkeville, VA to Taylor Co., GA. Awarded the Southern Cross of Honor 19Jan1905 by the Butler GA Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, recipient ledger book #5, page 257.

8. Thomas B. Theus was born in Taylor County, Georgia 7-Aug-1841. He married Susan Emma Gresham and they had the following family (nine children).

12. George Thomas Theus was born in Taylor County, Georgia 30 Aug 1877. He married Shellanna Williams on 28-Jun-1902. Shellanna Williams b. 18May1887 in Taylor Co. GA, died 3Nov1957 in Taylor Co.GA [d. 13Nov1960 per other records]. Shellanna was the daughter of Eliakim George Washington Williams (born 15-Dec-1779 in Macon Co. GA) and his 2nd wife, Catherine Amerson. Both buried at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Taylor Co. GA [source: Jack Williams ]

13. Mary Lizzie Theus b. 10-Dec-1878 in Taylor Co., m. Preston Worth Greer (b. 20-Jun-1891, d. 1966) on 22-Aug-1909, d. 29-Sep-1962. Buried Bethlehem Cemetery in Taylor Co., GA

14. Mattie Theus b. 16-Dec-1880 in Taylor Co., m. Slaughter Hill on 30-Sep-1900, d. 8-Aug-1960 buried Bethlehem, Taylor Co.

18. Ida Mae Theus, b. 20-Jul-1891 in Taylor Co., married Rufus Carlton Kirksey (b. 10-Feb-1885 d. 20-Jun-1969) on 14-Jan-1913 in Taylor Co., died 17-May-1928, both Ida Mae and Rufus buried at Bethlehem, Taylor Co., GA.

19. Fannie Ruth Theus, b. 22-Oct-1893 in Taylor Co., married Floyd S. Jinks, son of Willis Jinks (grandson of Wilborn Jinks) and J Downs on 23-Dec-1913 in Taylor Co., GA, (F.S. Jinks b. 4-Jan-1892 d. 30-Jun-1964 in Taylor Co., GA), died 12-Sep-1965, both buried Bethlehem.

20. David Russell Theus, b. 1-Apr-1897 in Taylor Co., married Mary Emma Streetman 6-Dec-1922 in Taylor Co. (M.E.Streetman b. 29-Sep-1903 d. 29-Apr-1932 in Taylor Co.), died ?, both buried at Bethlehem, Taylor Co.

THE BUTLER HERALD, Taylor Co., Ga. January 19, 1909 Mrs. T. B. Theus and daughter, Mrs. T. L. Barfield visited her brother, Mr. Gresham of Howard. Mrs. T. B. Theus was Susan Emma Gresham daughter of George W. Gresham and his first wife, Sarah Jane McKenney. Mr. Gresham of Howard was Jefferson D. Gresham son of George W. Gresham and his second wife Sarah Frances Snelson. Sarah Frances Snelson was daughter of John Snelson and Polly Reeves. John Snelson married George Gresham's mother, Matilda McKenney Gresham widow of Pleasant Gresham. Matilda McKenney Gresham and Sarah Jane McKenney were 1st cousins once removed and Matilda was her mother-in-law.
