The Scobee's & Their Kin

~ My Morgan's Raiders Ancestors ~

The Scobee's (Scobie/Scoby) have for a hundred years or more lived up to their Highland Scots military tradition and provided fighting men for this great nation from as early as the War of 1812 (some sources include the American Revolution) right up to the present day, including my 6th cousin Francis "Dick" Scobee, commander of the ill-fated space shuttle Challenger in 1986.

The following are my paternal Scobee cousins (& related Dooley/Grimes kin) who rode with John Hunt Morgan during the War Between The States... highlighted names will take you to additional information on their service.... It is interesting to note that the Scobee's that remained in Kentucky sided with the Confederacy, & those that had moved to Missouri prior to the war sided with the Union.

A special thanks to my cousin, Joanne Morgan (Scobee), for providing the following information.
