As late as October of 2009, there were 7,450,000, (that's over seven million,) GeoCities URLs still indexed in Google. In September of that year, GeoCities pages had over 10 million unique users, according to analysts comScore Inc. While this is a 16 percent drop from the 12 million they'd seen just a year earlier, it still put Geocities at the 200th most visited url in the world.

Yahoo! purchased the popular free web hosting service GeoCities in 1999 for three and one half billion dollars.  On October 26, 2009, Yahoo! shut down GeoCities for nothing. Any website on GeoCities that was not transferred to a new web host by then  is gone forever.
