To our lady church in Sarum 2d. To the reparation of my parish church in Downton 3d. To Ails Whytehere, my servant, a ewe and a lamb, my wife's petticoat, etc. To the children of my sister Margaret Blake of Playtford a ewe lamb among them. To Elisabeth Blaake my wife's black bat. To Agnes Saunders children a bullock among them. To Agnes Bampton a frock. To William Hvekeman my best "hooses." To Dennys Husse a brass pot. To my son Richard Relic my great brass pot, a cupboard, etc., and he shall have three kine at fifteen years of age, to be delivered by Henry Rolfe the younger of flamptworth or by his assigns, he being one of my overseers for the keeping of my said son Richard. To Margaret Rolfe, my daughter, all my wife's wearing gear unbequeathed, and at the age of fifteen years two kine to be delivered to her by John Lyght of Hamptworth, he being the other of my overseers for the keeping of my said daughter Margaret. To my son Richard and my daughter Margaret all my instuff of household at fifteen years, equally divided; if both die, reversion to the children of Thomas Blaake, Thomas Husse, Agnes Sawnders, John Lyght, and henry Rolfe the younger, equally divided, and if the said I-henry have no children, then one part to him and his wife. Shee did declare h------ be; that her sonne Beniam Rolfe should haue the substance of her estate, which was her owne pp estate, & that he should be her sole Executor. Only she gaue these pticulers as followeth, her bedding & Clothes linnen and woollen she gaue to be equally deuided betwixt her two daughters. Also shee gaue twenty shillings a piece to her fourc grtuidchildren to be giucn them five yearca after her death. Also one little Cowe she gaue to her Daughter yt hues at Newberry. Also of foure peeces of Brasse shee gaue two to her sonne Benjamin, which he should Choose, & to each of her daughters one. "The Testymoney of George Vaghan Aged abought 23 yeares Concerning the last will of Honor Rolfe widdow deceased: 19th of 10th mo. 1650. This Deponent saith that himselfe being in prfence together with Henry Largin some two daies before the death of the aboue said testator, he heard her make this her last will in maner following. Inprimis She bequeathed all her estate in generall to her yongcst Sonne Beniamine Rolfe onely excepted those pticulore which follow: Item to her foure Grand Children she gaue twenty shillings a peec, to be paid them foure or flue yeare after that time. Item all her Right in halfe an acre of Ground on which the Barne stands and a yonge sowe she gaue to her sonne John Rohfe: Item a little Cowe that she had she gaue to her daughter Hanah Dole. Item all her weareing Cloathes & bedding she gaue to be equally deuided betweene her two Daughters Anna and Hanah: these pticu1cm abouesaid this deponent tooke spetiall notice of; & further he saith not: only a day after her sonne in lawe Richard Dole comeing to her desired this Deponent to Aske her what she would doe with the three pounds ten shillings in England, & shoe Answered that she would that her sonne Beniamine should haue a sute of Cloathes out of it, & the rest he should haue meaning her said sonne in Lawe Richard Dole. To the church of [Whiteparish] 64., to be used towards the reparation of the church by the church wardens of White-parish. Concerning my right and interest in certain leases of which I now stand possessed, after my decease my son [ ]Rolfe he shall have that messuage or tenement and close adjoining, and that close called long [ ] adjoining to Bushy lease, and that close called breach meade, and a parcel [ ] sometimes parcel of bushy lease and lying upon the lane called Rumsey [ ] containing fourteen "lugge," all being in Whiteparish, and also four [?pieces of] arable land containing ten acres called Webb [?close] with a messuage which I hold of the right [ ] William Stockman of Bereford, county Wilts, Esq., by virtue of a [?lease] dated 20 March 8 James I, to hold the said lease and premises until the full term of ninety nine years be ended, if myself, Henry Rolfe, my son, and John Rolfe the younger, my son, or any of us, live so long. My son John shall have the three acres of ground sometimes waste ground parcel of the Earldome lying between Langley wood* and the round coppice,* demised to me and my assigns by William Stockman Esq., during the term of [th]ree years, as appears by indenture dated 20 March 8 James I give To John, my younger son, the new chest, my best coffer, my iron bound cart, and £3. To Joane, the eldest daughter, and Hester, the youngest daughter of my son John, a brass pan, pewter platter, a hive of bees and 20s. each. To Joane, my grandchild, daughter of William Holloway, a hive of bees and 20s. at [ ] twenty-one years my will is that [ ] son John or the longer [ ] two kine and a mare which [ ] Item I give to my daughter [ ] coverlid and 26s. 8d. to [ ] ease. She married (1st) MAURICE FITZ MAURICE, 2nd Earl of Desmond, son and heir of Maurice Fitz Thomas, 1st Earl of Desmond, by his 2nd wife, Margaret, daughter of Conor O'Brien. They had no issue. He died shortly before 5 June 1358. She married (2nd) by royal license dated 1 Jan. 1358/9 THOMAS DE ROOS (or ROS), Knt., 4th Lord Roos of Helmsley, of the castles and manors of Helmsley, Yorkshire and Chilham, Kent, Joint Warden of the West March of Scotland and of the East March, 3rd son of William de Roos, 2nd Lord Roos of Helmsley, by Margery, daughter of Bartholomew de Badlesmere, Knt., 1st Lord Badlesmere. He was born at Stoke Albany, Northamptonshire 13 Jan. 1336/7, and was heir in 1352 to his older brother, William de Roos, Knt., 3rd Lord Roos of Helmsley. They had four sons, John, Knt. 15th Lord Roos of Helmsley], William, Krnt., K.G. [6th Lord Roos of Helmsley], Thomas, and Robert, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. He took part in the King's expedition in Normandy in 1355, and in the campaigns of 1356 and 1359-60. He was summoned to Parliament from 24 August 1362 to 1383. In 1368 he was ordered to reside on his lands in Ireland with his armed forces to prevent the loss and destruction of the country. In 1369 and 1374 he served in France. SIR THOMAS DE ROOS, 4ffi Lord Roos of Helmsley, died testate (Linc. Episc. Reg., 282 Bokingham) at Uffington, Lincolnshire 8 June 1384, and was buried at Riveaulx. His widow, Beatrice, married (3rd) before 20 August 1385 (date of pardon for marrying without license) RICHARD DE BURLEY, Knt., K.G. (died at Vilialpando in Spain 23 May 1387), of Burgate (in Fordingbridge), Hampshire and Orwell, Cambridgesbire, son and heir ofJohn de Burley, Knt., of Burley, Herefordshire, by Amice, daughter of Richard de Pembridge. They had no issue. She was a legatee in the 1385 will of her brother, Hugh de Stafford, K.G., 2nd Earl of Stafford. A gown was provided for her for King Henry IV's Coronation. She died testate 13 (or 14) April 1415 (her will dated 26 June 1414, requesting burial in Warter Priory).
