The attainder of his father was reversed in 1472. He married before 1467 ELIZABETH HERON, daughter of John Heron, Knt., of Ford and Chullingham, Northumberland, by Elizabeth (descendant of King Edward I), daughter and heiress of William Heron, Knt. [see HERON 13 for her ancestry]. They had five sons, George, Knt., William, Knt., Robert, John, and Richard, and two daughters, Maud and Elizabeth (wife ofJohn Vavasour, Knt., and _____ Greystoke). SIR ROBERT TAILBOYS died testate (P.C.C. 24 Vox) 30 Jan. 1494/5, and was buried at Kyme Priory besides his wife who predeceased him. Parents: William TAILBOYS Knight and Elizabeth BONVILLE.

ELIZABETH BONVILLE, married WILLIAM TAILBOYS, Knt., de jure Lord Kyme, of South Kyme, Galthagh, and Sotby, Lincolnsbire, and Enfield, Middlesex, King's squire, Knight of the Shire for Lincolnshire, son and heir of Walter Tailboys, Lord Kyme, by an unidentified 1st wife. He was born about 1416 (aged 28 in 1444). Her maritagium included property at Somerton and Yeovilton, Somerset. They had two sons, Thomas and Robert, Knt. He fought as a Lancastrian at the Battle of St. Albans 19 Feb. 1460/1 (where he was knighted), and at the Battle of Towton 29 March 1461. As a rebel and an adherent of the enemies of the new King, Edward IV, he was attainted 4 Nov. 1461. He held Ainwick for Queen Margaret from Nov. 1461 to 31 July 1462. He rejoined the Lancastrians and fought at Hedgley Moor 25 March 1464. SIR WILLIAM TAILBOYS fought on the Lancastrian side at the Battle of Hexham 15 May 1464, and, escaping after the defeat, was captured in a coal pit near Newcastle-on-Tyne toward the end of the month, and beheaded about 26 May 1464, burial at Grey Friars, Newcastle. His widow, Elizabeth, died 14 Feb. 1490/1.
